Parents are alsobothered by this so that they have to try every possible way to help their children.Then how can these worried and anxious parents concentrate on their own work?From here we can see that the English difficulties not only impact the field ofeducation but also the whole society.


1.2 The Objectives and Significance of This Study
Research objectives: After the opening policy, English learning and teachinghave started from every comer of China, some great achievements have been made aswell. There is a plenty of all-round talents all over the world. Nevertheless, manystudents with learning difficulties are previous in our elementary education, at thesame time,the middle school English learning and teaching developed unbalanced.Compared with the cities,the quality of rural English teaching and learning isunsatisfactory. In rural areas, their English teaching and learning starts later than thatin big cities. There are English classes in the primary schools in city,but there are fewclasses in rural areas. Even though some of the rural primary schools offer the Englishclass for students, they are actually meaningless and no essential things since they aremainly to be checked up on by higher authorities. So it is not surprising to find thatmany students only know the 26 English letters after primary school graduation.


Chapter II Literature Review and TheoreticalFoundation


2.1 English Learning Difficulties and Previous Studies
2.1.1 Definition of English Learning Difficulties
To identify students with learning difficulties,the field of education holds threedifferent views:


(1). Judging by ranking standard
Rank the same class, grade or group of students according to their grades fromhigh to low, and the ones who rank at the back are considered as students withlearning difficulties. This criterion,which is a relative evaluation category, is oftenused in schools. Activities aimed at selection use the ranking standard a lot.The advantages of ranking standard are: operating easily, choosing the superiorand eliminating the inferior according to the needs of the standard, hiring excellenttalents. Its disadvantage is: violating the intention of education. From the pedagogicalpoint of view, education is the career of helping others, while the ranking standardviews the students ranking in the back as those with learning difficulties. Actually,some of them do not really have learning difficulties.


(2). Judging by academic standard
This standard is judged by whether the knowledge and skills of students of acertain age or grade meet the level and standard or not. After learning within therequired time, if the students pass tests to achieve the requirements of the syllabus,they are qualified; otherwise they are students with learning difficulties.
