CHAPTER FOUR RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS 

In this chapter, the result of the two questions and hypothesis will be presented at the beginning. By comparing the result of pre-test and post-test, the author can tell what the students have changed from the perspective of English writing and what she should do on conducting the imitative writing method. 

4.1 Discussions of the Test Results 

At the beginning, the author carried out the pre-test. At the end of the research, she also conducted other test called post-test which was a part of the final-term examination. In this research, in order to realize the educational equality, all of the subjects took part in  the  experiment.  Their  writing  scores  and  writing  performance  were  written  down. Besides, the research materials were collected timely, including students’ writing papers, the scores of pre-test and post-test, the author’ teaching reflection, and students’ writing errors. Table 4-1 and table 4-2 show that junior high school students are weak in English writing skills and take negative attitude towards English writing. So how to change the situation  in  writing  teaching  is  one  of  the  main  problems  English  teachers  have  to encounter  at  present.  Most  of  the  writing  scores  of  the  students  are  just  around  the passing  level.  Meanwhile,  the  number  of  high-achieving  students  is  small  while  there are even a few students cannot write whole compositions.

CONCLUSIONS

In this research, through the analysis of students’ writing scores, writing samples and  teaching  journals,  the  results  indicate  that  the  application  of  imitative  writing method  has  a  good  effect  on  students’  writing  in  terms  of  words,  contents,  length, grammar,  and  organization.  After  three-month  research,  most  of  the  students  have  felt confident  in  English  writing  and  they  know  how  to  write  accurately  and  efficiently. What’s more, their comprehension to writing is enhanced gradually. Before the research, some of the students did not like writing. They were often forced to write by the teacher without guidance. But now, they are used to writing and do not consider English writing as a block.
