fabric they choose is often from old clothes that have been passed down in the family for two or even three generations, and is brightly colored. They cut it into asymmetrical shapes and improvise during the sewing process, so the making process of the patchwork quilt is very random. Therefore, for black women, the quilt is not only the embodiment of women’s creativity, but also the symbol of black national culture and history. Because of her passion for her own national culture and history, Alice Walker writes about the patchwork process in many of her works. The intention of “patchwork quilt” is applied to the narrative technique, and the patchwork process is transformed as a fragmenting process, which breaks the traditional narrative mode based on the sequence of time passing, and uses flashbacks and interjections to give readers a sense of mixed fragments.

Chapter Two Walker’s Deconstruction of Binary Opposition

Ⅰ. Deconstruction of Historical Memory in Petunias

“History continues to influence the integration of the whole” (Yu, 2018: 16), the truth of history may not be proved, and negative negation may produce a non-integration effect. Robert Young believes that most of the critics of post-structuralism only pursue the unique end meaning of history, which represents the affirmation of these critics for the wholeness of capitalized history, denying that historical memory may have special and individual multiple meanings.

Surrealist works have no predetermined theme and are often the author’s subconscious thought activities. Petunias, as the least extensive and imaginative novel in the collection, tells the story of a black woman who causes an explosion and death in the way the narrator relays diary entries. The opening introduction of what appears to be the beginning: “This is what they read on the next to the last page of the diary they found after her death in the explosion.”(Walker, 2011: 40) But it was clearly a subject that came to Walker’s mind immediately, and she wrote it down. The black woman in the diary objected to her son’s bomb-making activities, but eventually joined the resistance movement and dedicated herself to the bombing. Women writers tend to focus more on what voices they use and how they speak, and whether those voices are told in public, exaggerated narratives or in private forms such as letters, diaries or internal monologues. At the same time, Walker’s plot is decidedly more freewheeling, and the black son, who returned from Vietnam, could carry his footlocker and a duffel bag with him and hide the bomb in it is decidedly unintuitive and simplistic. The logical contradiction, however, is Walker’s apparent rebellion against realism. The images reflected in surrealistic literary sentences are mostly broken, unreal and illogical.

Ⅱ. Deconstruction of Body in Porn

Since the 1960s, freedom of speech in the United States started the transformation to modernity, and it met the issues of gender equality and racial equality. The first is the conflict between freedom of speech and gender equality, epitomized by whether pornography should be protected. The debate has been linked to a series of pornography decisions by the United Stated Supreme Court and the rise of “second wave of feminism”. One of the most influential was Miller v. California (1973), which more strictly defined the boundaries 论文英语论文网提供整理,提供论文代写英语论文代写代写论文代写英语论文代写留学生论文代写英文论文留学生论文代写相关核心关键词搜索。
