Conclusion

As a dual black female writer, Alice Walker, not only identifies with feminist ideas but also calls for women to constantly strive for their legal status. At the same time, because of her deep focus on the third world, Walker especially emphasizes the uniqueness of third-world women, which also adds a new connotation to feminism. Womanism revises the influence of mainstream white middle-class feminism, internalizes the traditional inheritance and sisterhood of women of color into a new relationship of harmonious coexistence between men and women, and interprets an ideal state of female existence. Walker gathers historical and psychological clues about her own life and the lives of other black women, presenting survival wisdom for women of color. In the process of writing, her soul collided with the souls of all black women and even white women. Black women are not alone. They have companions, comrades, and sisters, and they do have joy, strength, and continuity of existence. Walker has managed to give voice to centuries of silent bitterness and hate, as well as to neighborly kindness and sustaining love (Walker, 2011: 25). 

As a bridging work, You Can’t Keep a Good Woman Down embodies the postmodern traits of womanism and has the value of being paid more attention to. Based on the summary of the literature related to the study of Alice Walker and her works, through the classification of the stories in the collection, it is found that the African American literary community, especially the mainstream, regards Alice Walker as a realist writer because her literary genre of fiction and non-fiction are full of critical thinking about the reality of American society.
