By searching on the CNKI, there are 1813 articles on ecological translation publishedin China by the end of 2018. Most of the studies before 2004 were focused onWestern translation theories, translation techniques and translation ethics, etc. Since2004, Professor Hu Gengshen had published many papers, such as The PhilosophicalFoundation of the Theory of Adaptation and Selection, An Empirical Survey ofTranslation Adaptation and Selection, and other articles on Eco-translatology. Afterthat, a large number of scholars have emerged in China to study Eco-translatology.The research content mainly involves exploring theory, criticizing it, applying it totranslation practice, and making a social investigation report on it. All in all, theEco-translatology has been popular and welcomed by Chinese scholars on translationresearches in recent years. In view of this, this paper will choose this theory as thetheoretical foundation.

2.1.1An overview of Eco-translatology

The Eco-translatology was born in 2001 and began to develop in 2009, it advancedgradually in due order. Most of the earliest concepts are put forward by E.Haugenwho thinks that language environment and Eco-environment bear some similaritiesand the research model of Eco-linguistics can provide a reference for researches onEco-translatology. After more than 30 years, the concept of Eco-translatology finallyappeared in the Michael Cronin’s book, in which he insisted to keep balance on translation among different language. At the beginning of 21stcentury, Professor HuGengshen put forward the theory of adaptation and selection, which applied theoriessuch as natural selection and adaptation in Darwin’s evolution theory into thetranslation research for the first time. From the perspective of translator, he definedtranslation as a process in which the translator should adapt to the Eco-environmentof the translation. In 2006, he further put forward the Eco-translatology andpublished The Definition of Eco-translatology. In this paper, he suggested that theEco-translatology is interdisciplinary and can direct and broaden the translationresearch. In 2008, he published Translation as Adaptation and Selection, in which heintroduced this theory more systematically and proposed some translation methods.In this way, the practical operation of Eco-translatology got new theoretical support.After the 20thcentury, more and more scholars in china began to show great intereston this new theory and apply it to solve translation problems. To some extent, thoseresearches promote the combination of Eco-translatology with other disciplines.
