The project entrusted to the translator has been completed during her internship in aMedical AI company, involving much professional knowledge from computing technology tomedical science. With the concerted effort of the translator, entrusting party, and reviewers,the target version of the user guide is hoped to explain this knock-out software and transferthe latest achievements of China’s medical device industry.

1.1.1 Background

Radiotherapy, which has beenrapidly developing for decades, has become the primary method to treat malignant tumors dueto its prominent role in cancer treatment. All-process services can be achieved with theassistance of AI from precise contouring of target volumes and organs at risk to radiotherapyplan and quality assessment, motion monitoring and tracking, image-guided adaptiveradiotherapy, and radioactive damage prediction. Therefore, AI-assisted radiotherapycontouring software is promising in the medical industry, and the user guide of it is required to be translated into the English version for overseas trade.

The translator got an internship in Guangzhou Perception Vision Medical TechnologyCo., Ltd (hereinafter referred to as PVmed) from June 2019 to March 2020. It is a highlydemanding position that requires medical and biological background, computer capability, aswell as excellent verbal and written English skills. After going through a written examinationand several rounds of interviews, the translator was finally approved as a member of thetranslation team. In daily work, the translator is mainly responsible for translating official andpublicity documents in the department of quality management and the marketing departmentfrom Chinese into English, and she has finished the work of nearly 400,000 Chinese words intotal. In order to prepare the report on the translation, 27,100 Chinese words are selected asthe study material which is attached in the appendix.
