Chapter Five Teacher Development Strategies and Suggestions 

Through  the  investigation  and  analysis  of  Mr.  Wang  and  Mr.  Pan,  it  can  be concluded that the development of the teachers‘ pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) is  influenced  by  many  factors.  In  the  individual  level,  such  as  teacher‘s  personal attitude  and  target,  whether  the  understanding  way  and  development  method  of  the PCK  is  proper  or  not,  individual  difference  and  so  on.  About  the  school  level,  it includes the support of the school leader and the creation of school environment, and so  on.  There  are  also  family  factors,  students‘  factors,  parents‘  factors  and  social factors,  and  so  on.  In  a  word,  if  novice  English  teachers  want  to  be  expert  English teachers, we need to have continuous self-improvement in subject teaching and create the  superior  environment  to  promote  the  development.  After  analysis  of  problems which existed in the novice teachers‘ development, I put forward a few strategies for novice teachers. 

5.1 Strengthening the consciousness of teachers’ self-development  

From  the  study  of  questionnaire  we  can  see  that  in  the  influential  factors  of teacher‘s effective teaching, rural middle school novice English teachers are lack of teaching  strategy  knowledge  and  the  knowledge  of  the  students.  This  requires  the English teachers in the middle school should strengthen this part of knowledge in self-development  consciousness.  English  is  a  developing  discipline,  and  it  will  have  the emergence of new things along with the development of the society. Teachers should always  keep  on  learning  in  the  process  of  imparting  knowledge.  English  teachers should  have  the  awareness  of  lifelong  development  and  initiative,  then  he  can  give students interest and motivation to learn.
