摘要:本文是一篇商务英语翻译论文,到目前为止,整个翻译实践和案例分析都是从三个元功能的角度来探讨翻译。

The first step is to read through the source text, which enables the translator to have anoverall understanding of the source text. Because the translator learned the operation of DéjàVu X3 (the updated version of Déjà Vu X) in the first year of her postgraduate study, she choseit to deal with the source text before translation. In this stage, the translator processed theexisting Translation Memory and Lexicon in bulk and compared those data with the databasecollected before. It’s also very convenient to operate since the translator only needs to press theEnter button to accept.After that, the current translation results can be efficiently shown in theright column. To be specific, Déjà Vu X3 has the function of Auto Assemble and canautomatically search the sentences to be translated and the technical terms in them before itautomatically assembles available translation results.

2.2 Process of Translating

Thequality ofthetarget text is closely relatedto thetranslation process, whichneeds manyefforts. Since the translator has looked through the source text, she decided to complete thetranslation task within one month, which can be divided into three periods.

Firstly, the translator managed to comprehend proper nouns and terminologies thathindered the general understanding in the pre-translation stage with the help of terminologybanks and translation tools.

Considering that many terms are presented more than once in the source text, and thetranslatoris familiarwith DéjàvuX3whichhasbeentaughtasacompulsorycourse,sheunifiedglossary with the help of Déjà vu X3.Therefore, the translation process will be time-saving andfluent, for the translator doesn't need to look into the dictionary again and again.

Secondly, the translator spent three weeks to finish a first draft translation. To produce asmooth and faithful target text, the translator should digest the phrase of the source text andthen rendered them into proper Chinese, which is the most crucial and challenging job. Everytime the translator felt that the translated version doesn't make sense, she would consult morerelevant information. Meanwhile, the study of SFL in the first year in her Master of Artsprogram has laid a good foundation for her to grasp the source text better and tackle thedifficulties in the translation practice.Through analyzing the material process, mood, cohesion,and so on, the translator can better recognize the source text’s meaning, thus produce anidiomatic and acceptable version. For the sentences beyond her understanding, the translatorwould take notes and mark them for further research.
