摘要:本文是一篇商务英语论文翻译,翻译是将信息从源文本传递到目标文本的过程。译者在这一过程中起着至关重要的作用。英语和汉语属于不同的语系,在语法、时态、语音和句子结构等许多方面都存在着巨大的差异。这些语言差异使得译者在准确、全面地传达原文信息的过程中进行了适当的调整。

lator carry out appropriate adjustments in the process of conveying informationof source text precisely and comprehensively.In this translation practice,translationtheory has great significance to solve specific translation problems.Translation shiftstheory put forward by Catford was chosen by translator to serve as the guiding theoryin this report.Here are major findings of this translation report.

Firstly,in terms of translation problems in the levels of lexis and syntacticstructure,namely translation of nominalized structures and passive voice,class shiftsand structure shifts were applied to solve these problems.Class shifts occur when thepart of speech need to be changed.With the help of class shifts,numerous ofadjectives and nominalized structures in source text were shifted into correspondingverbs in target text.By shifting part of speech,the SL information conveyed bynominalized structures was expressed in a conciser and clearer way.Structure shiftsrefer to changes of sentence structures.There are plenty of passive voice in the sourcetext.In translation process,passive structures were all transformed into activestructures to produce a readable and fluent TT.

Secondly,a great number of long sentences embedded with modifiers appearedin the source text,unit shifts were used for helping translator to decide appropriatetranslation units.Unit shifts need to be taken when some changes appeared indifferent translation units.It always happened in translating long sentences withseveral detailed information and clauses.Through shifting phases to clauses,someprepositional phases in the ST were translated into clauses to convey language information of the ST more fluently.When translating long sentences with severalattributive clauses or short sentences,shifts from sentences to sentence groups wereadopted by translator.As a result,the source text was split into a few short clausesaccording to convention of the TT and was reorganized into a sentence group toexpress detailed information of source text.In the E-C translation of academic text,unit shifts were most frequently used by translator to deal with problems in longsentences.As a consequence,unit shifts should be given much attention and be usedby translator flexibly.
