Chapter Four Data Analysis and Discussion

4.1  The  Current  Situation  of  Teacher  Questioning  in  Cultivating  Students’ Thinking Capacity

Classroom  observation  is  used  to  find  out  the  current  situation  of  teacher questioning  from  the  perspective  of  the  cultivation  of  thinking  capacity.  The  author recorded  18  English  reading  lessons  and  extracted  the  questions  to  analyze  to exploring the current situation. The results are as follows.

4.1.1 Analysis of Recording Results

As  for  the  data  of  classroom  observation,  the  author  extracted  the  questions  from reading  lessons  first,  after  that,  numbered  them  with  the  reference  of  the  revised Bloom‟s  taxonomy  (Appendix  I). Table  4-1  shows  the  types  and  frequencies  of questions of each lesson.

5.1 Major Findings of This Research

After analyzing the data of questionnaires, recordings, interviews, and classroom observation, two research questions have been solved. Therefore, major findings can be summarized as follows based on the data analysis and discussion. 

5.1.1  The  Current  Situation  of  Teacher  Questioning  in  Cultivating  Students’ Thinking Capacity
