Withan attempt to ensure consistency throughout the whole text, such specific words andnames ought to be translated into a unified version undoubtedly. In consequence, anample glossary is not only of vital significance but also in great need.As a result, whenreading through the translation material, a glossary was also designed at the same time.And the glossary was supplemented constantly in the process of apprehending thesource text.

2.2 While-translation Process

In the before-translation preparation, abundant work had been completed. With athorough understanding of Apartment 3B, the source text was translated into Chinese,which lasted from March 17 to June 25, 2019.

This part consists of three sections. First of all, both the source text and the targettext are analyzed in earnest.Then how the common problems confronted in the task areresolvedisaccountedfor,includingdifficultiesatboththelexical levelandthesyntacticlevel. The last section elaborates on an idiosyncratic phenomenon found in the sourcetext and proposes a theory to cope with it.

2.2.1Analysis of the Source Text and the Target Text

It is important for translators to “analyze the syntactic, semantic and pragmaticrelationship between the source language (especially as it appears in this particularsource text) and the target language, so that you know what each language is capableand incapable of doing and saying, and can make all necessary adjustments (Robinson,2003: 142).” To secure a smooth and accurate translation, an intensive analysis of thesource text was conducted and it was correlated with the characteristics of the targetlanguage accordingly.
