Telling Chinese stories and shaping Chinese image are important ways to follow up the cultural strategy. As the starting point of the New Silk Road, Shaanxi culture should go global, strengthen exchanges and cooperation with overseas cultures, and enhance cultural influence. One of the most effective ways to spread Shaanxi culture is to translate literary works with distinctive Shaanxi characteristics. How to deal with the strong folklore culture and regional dialect in Shaanxi literary works has naturally become the focus of scholars.

Local literary works mainly refer to “focusing on depicting the characteristics of a certain area, introducing its dialects, social customs, folklore and the unique scenery of the area” (Wei & Tao & Li, 2019). His works have been translated and published in multiple languages, but the number of other Shaanxi writers who have been translated and introduced overseas is not large and the language is relatively single. From a literary perspective, the impact of Shaanxi contemporary literature abroad is lacking, and the reading and understanding of Shaanxi literature by ordinary overseas readers is extremely limited. After Mo Yan won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2012, translators began to pay attention to the translation of local literature again. To some degree, the popularity of local literary works overseas depends largely on the success of translation. Therefore, it is necessary to translate excellent Shaanxi local literary works with quality and quantity and to extensively publicize them.
