The target reader’s understanding ability should be taken into account in the translation, so that the reader can understand and accept it quickly. Communicative translation theory is reader-centered, so it is most appropriate to choose communicative translation theory as the guiding theory of this practical report.

The translator has completed the translation of more than 13,000 words from chapter 1 to chapter 7 of source text. The translator chose Starting Over in Bellbird Bay as the translation material, hoped to make a modest contribution to the translation of current fictions through research.
