Chapter Two Process Description
2.1 Pre-translation
The preparatory work includes preparing translation tools, determiningterminology and making task schedule.
2.1.1 Preparing translation tools
In order to achieve the ideal translation, the translator has prepared the followingtranslation tools in the translation process: Antconc, dictionaries, encyclopedias,books and journals, and Trados.
To grasp the language features of the source text, during the process ofpre-analysis, Antconc is used to analyze the corpus. With the help of Antconc, thetranslator and the team find out the occurrence frequency of each vocabularythrough retrieval, comparison and analysis.
Furthermore, there are many marketing management terms and geographicnames in the book, which undoubtedly increases the difficulty of understanding.Therefore, the translator has to turn to dictionaries, including paper dictionary such asOxford Advanced Learner's dictionary, Cambridge dictionary, Longman Dictionary,and online dictionaries such as Youdao, Bing, Google, etc.
Concerning the geographic names, the translator uses Wikipedia, BaiduEncyclopedia and other relative online resources to ensure the accuracy of thetranslation of these terms. In addition, books, periodical literature, and electronicresources in the university library are also helpful for the present project.
Trados, the translation software, is also used to standardize and unify the wholetext terms. The proofreading function of Trados has been proved helpful in enhancingthe translation accuracy and efficiency.

2.2 While-translation
While translating, the processes of determining translation strategies and listingdifficulties encountered are briefly introduced.
2.2.1 Determining translation strategies
Before setting about the translation project, the translator read through the sourcetext firstly to grasp the main content of the source text. The source text, characterizedby its strong logistic to present information and marketing thoughts, is informativeand academic, in which management and marketing knowledge are interlocked.Informative text is mainly used to convey information and to reflect objective facts,according to the text typology of Newmark (1981). Therefore, the material can beclassified as informative text and translation memetics is employed to guide thetranslation practice.
Translation memetics is applicable to the dissemination of culture and thoughts.It holds that the source text is a meme complex. In the process of translation, thetranslator should be able to understand the source meme thoroughly, to look for theequivalent or similar meme in the target language, to decode the source meme, and tofind the new host of the source meme for expressing it in the most acceptable way.Thus, the target readers decode and receive the similar memes, obtaining the samefeelings as the source language reader. Once the memes become strong memes, they are easier to enrich the target culture. The translator aims to make the term“geographically remote industrial clusters” known to the target readers and todisseminate the marketing and management information.
