the translator made adetailed schedule first. The schedule is as follows:

1. On the first day, collect and read related parallel texts to learn and form a vocabulary;

2. From the second day to the fifth day, translate the source text;

3. The last two days, proofread and adjust the layout.

With the schedule, the task was completed in order and on time.

2.2.2 Difficulties during translation

This is the first time for the translator to translate text about automobile, so duringtranslation, there are several difficulties that have wasted a lot of time and energy of the translator,even though, certain solutions have been found out at last. The difficulties mainly occurred in thetranslation of terminology, non-subject sentence and long sentence. The specific solutions will bediscussed in detail in the fourth part of the report.

4.1 Terminology Translation

Terminology refers to the unified technical words or expressions in a specific field for anumber of specific things. Terminology is used in various industries and common in internationalpractice. Professional terms are relative to daily expressions, and generally refer to the exclusivename of an industry, and most of the situation is well known to those skilled in the field.

The translation of the specification requires accurate transmission of the originalinformation to avoid unnecessary mistakes and risks, so words chosen should also be precise.Some of terminologies in English product specification even though are simple and ordinarywords, they have totally different meaning when used in certain field. However, most of thetranslators are lack of related professional knowledge in the field that the product specificationinvolves, hence it is quite difficult for us translators to translate these words precisely andprofessionally, and sometimes we even misunderstand or cannot understand these words. Hence,as for semantic translation in specification, adhering to the rules of Skopos theory is of greatimportance. In order to have a quality translation, translators should first make clear the mainpurpose of the translating task and the original text, and then learn relevant terminologies, and atlast translate these professional words under the guidance of the Skopos theory. Besides, whiletranslating, one cannot take it for granted when the common and simple vocabulary occur.
